Chinese Government Adds Plastic Industrial Scraps to Import Ban

Industrial waste plastics have been added to the list of solid waste imports banned by the Chinese government. This ban will take effect on December 31, 2018.
The announcement was jointly released on April 19 by the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission and the General Administration of Customs.
Five categories of plastics scraps, listed by the respective Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS codes), were added to the existing list of solid waste imports banned at the end of 2017 that included consumer plastic scraps.
